Anonymity
Streetography has a standard look, that being an image of a person on the street doing what they do, as they do it, which is what streetography is.
I decided to break those rules and emphasized people being people while emphasizing and maintaining anonymity.
People have unique looks and ways of holding themselves outside of their facial features, and as a photographer who has always emphasized portraits, I wanted to expand beyond that with these works by intentionally cropping off the individual head and face so that the audience has no choice but to look at the body, clothing, shoes, what is being held, etc.
I worked this series in this way hoping that people may notice things that maybe aren’t normally noticed in a positive light such as the texture of clothing, the shoes being worn, what is being held in ones hands, etc. There’s a beauty in the simple and basic elements of life.
